Instead of three relaxing weeks at the motherhouse, Sister is stuck with her students this summer! And summer is already rough enough for Sister — try wearing 50 pounds of gabardine in 90-degree heat!

Sister will discuss such questions as, “Did Jesus have to go to summer school? or “What is an appropriate summer vacation for a practicing Catholic?” And she’s sure to talk about the best way to make use of what’s left of your summer vacation. Beat the heat with Sister’s Summer School Catechism, and if you know what’s good for you, don’t be late!

Georges Bizet’s Carmen premiered in Paris in 1875. Two characters are at the center: Carmen who demands her freedom at any cost, and her lover Don José. He starts out as a respectable soldier, but obsessive love turns him into a lawbreaker, an outcast, and finally, a killer.

Micaela is in love with the soldier, Don Jose, and she expects to marry him. Jose loves her too, but is dazzled by the more exotic charms of the Gypsy, Carmen. He goes to jail because he has let Carmen escape after she started a fight. Meanwhile, Carmen has fallen in love with a bullfighter, Escamillo. When she refused to return to Jose, he kills her. Georges Bizet wrote several operas, but Carmen is far and away the most successful.

Though most people associate the name Alan Parsons with his prog rock hits of the seventies and eighties, this sound designer has had a passion for the latest technologies that reaches back to his early days with EMI and Abbey Road Studios. As an artist, his hits include “Games People Play,” “Time,” “Eye In The Sky,” “I Wouldn’t Want To Be Like You,” and “Don’t Answer Me.” As a producer, he helmed Al Stewart’s “Year Of The Cat” and “Time Passages,” and as an engineer, his credits include classics such as “The Air That I Breathe” by The Hollies. And a little album you might have heard of called The Dark Side Of The Moon by Pink Floyd, which celebrates the 40th anniversary of its release in February 2013.

Parsons, along with songwriter-singer Eric Woolfson, arranger Andrew Powell, guitarist Ian Bairnson, drummer Stuart Elliott, bassist David Paton, and vocalists Lenny Zakatek, Colin Blunstone, David Pack and Elmer Gantry, formed the best-selling studio group The Alan Parsons Project, whose albums I Robot, The Turn of a Friendly Card and Tales of Mystery and Imagination explored the interrelations between music, literature, psychology and fantasy.
