It’s summer and Sister is NOT happy. It seems the diocese has decided to offer a Summer School Catechism course for those students who weren’t paying attention all year. Instead of three relaxing weeks at the motherhouse, Sister is stuck with her students this summer! And summer is already rough enough for Sister — try wearing 50 pounds of gabardine in 90-degree heat!

Sister will discuss such questions as, “Did Jesus have to go to summer school? or “What is an appropriate summer vacation for a practicing Catholic?” And she’s sure to talk about the best way to make use of what’s left of your summer vacation. Beat the heat with Sister’s Summer School Catechism, and if you know what’s good for you, don’t be late!

Teatro Lirico D’Europa Presents G.Bizet’s CARMEN

Featuring a cast of 65 with live orchestra, chorus in French with English Subtitles

Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 8pm, Tickets: $55/45

Georges Bizet’s Carmen premiered in Paris in 1875. Two characters are at the center: Carmen who demands her freedom at any cost, and her lover Don José. He starts out as a respectable soldier, but obsessive love turns him into a lawbreaker, an outcast, and finally, a killer.

Micaela is in love with the soldier, Don Jose, and she expects to marry him. Jose loves her too, but is dazzled by the more exotic charms of the Gypsy, Carmen. He goes to jail because he has let Carmen escape after she started a fight. Meanwhile, Carmen has fallen in love with a bullfighter, Escamillo. When she refused to return to Jose, he kills her. Georges Bizet wrote several operas, but Carmen is far and away the most successful.

Don’t miss the magnificent music of Bizet brought to vivid vocal and orchestral life, for one night only at The Sunrise Theatre.

Man Of LaMancha

The Impossible Dream Musical

Friday, February 21 at 8pm, Tickets: $65/55

Audiences at the Sunrise Theatre soon will be able to share the delights of theatergoers all over the world, in experiencing the Broadway musical interpretation of the world’s first modern novel, Don Quixote of LaMancha, written by Miguel de Cervantes. Alan Parsons Live Project

Greatest Hits Tour 2014

Sunday, February 16 at 7pm, $59/$49

For one night only… Enjoy two full hours of the Alan Parsons Live Project’s greatest hits!

Though most people associate the name Alan Parsons with his prog rock hits of the seventies and eighties, this sound designer has had a passion for the latest technologies that reaches back to his early days with EMI and Abbey Road Studios. As an artist, his hits include “Games People Play,” “Time,” “Eye In The Sky,” “I Wouldn’t Want To Be Like You,” and “Don’t Answer Me.” As a producer, he helmed Al Stewart’s “Year Of The Cat” and “Time Passages,” and as an engineer, his credits include classics such as “The Air That I Breathe” by The Hollies. And a little album you might have heard of called The Dark Side Of The Moon by Pink Floyd, which celebrates the 40th anniversary of its release in February 2013.

Parsons, along with songwriter-singer Eric Woolfson, arranger Andrew Powell, guitarist Ian Bairnson, drummer Stuart Elliott, bassist David Paton, and vocalists Lenny Zakatek, Colin Blunstone, David Pack and Elmer Gantry, formed the best-selling studio group The Alan Parsons Project, whose albums I Robot, The Turn of a Friendly Card and Tales of Mystery and Imagination explored the interrelations between music, literature, psychology and fantasy.

Today, Alan Parsons takes his music on a worldwide tour, bringing his greatest hits to sold-out amphitheaters, concert halls and theaters. His new solo album, A Valid Path, reintegrates his classic Alan Parsons Project sound with modern artists and collaborators.

“Alan Parsons’s tunes are timeless.
Singing along with every song, what can be more fun?”

Kyman Entertainment Presents Kenny Vance and The Planotones with Special Guests, The Mystics

Saturday, February 15 at 8pm, Tickets: $49/$39, $75 VIP and Meet & Greet

Returning by popular demand, Kenny Vance and The Planotones deliver an evening of memories with songs such as Cara Mia, Looking for an Echo and Only in America. Known as the “Dylan of Doo Wop,” Kenny’s charisma and talent draws you closer to the music. His material is influenced by the 50s and 60s, but he consistently brings a unique and sophisticated point of view to his audience.

Let’s go back in time. The key words here are Doo Wop and Harmony…light, simple and ever so beautiful. It was the late 50s and The Mystics were heard on the airways singing Hushabye. The sound of The Mystics still embraces the soft breezes of harmonic perfection. The audience’s adoration and applause continue to shine and glow as The Mystics continue keeping the sounds of Harmony and Doo Wop alive in our hearts.
