One Night of Queen – April 4, 2014

Gary Mullen & The Works Perform

One Night of Queen

Friday, April 4 at 8pm, Tickets: $60/$50

Great Britain’s most explosive rock ‘n’ roll tribute show, One Night Of Queen, makes its annual appearance at the Sunrise Theatre! Scottish vocalist Gary Mullen is a legend in his homeland for his uncanny ability to channel the late, great Queen front man Freddie Mercury. One Night Of Queen stars Gary and his band, The Works, and it’s a high-energy, fully-realized Queen concert, featuring state-of-the-art lights, effects and, of course, those classic songs: Bohemian Rhapsody, We Are the Champions, Another One Bites the Dust and We Will Rock You, among many others!

Since 2001, Gary Mullen and One Night Of Queen have toured virtually non-stop around the U.K., Germany, Portugal, Holland, Belgium, France and New Zealand, playing theaters, arenas and festivals to sell-out crowds on every shore. Rock ‘n’ roll fans can’t get enough of One Night of Queen.

Mullen brought legendary Queen front man Freddie Mercury back to life in a two-hour energy-filled concert that had toddlers to grandparents dancing in the aisles.
– NY Daily News

“It was like walking into a time machine…as Queen rocked the house, albeit in the form of “Stars in their Eyes” champion Gary “Freddy Mercury” Mullen and his band of impersonators.”
– Review, Plymouth, UK

About The Fort Pierce Jazz & Blues Society

In September 1996 Darryl Bey and Larry Lee together with a group of Jazz and Blues enthusiasts founded the Fort Pierce Jazz & Blues Society. Fifteen years later, the Society is still Jazzin’ It Up .. thanks to the generosity and support of its membership and corporate sponsors. The entire community on the Treasure Coast has embraced the Fort Pierce Jazz & Blues Society. Jazz Jams have infused the area with talented local young and seasoned musicians and many well known guests from all over the country sitting in.

It is all so simple…provide great music performed by great players, always respect and consider the people who support the effort, throw in some funds so as to continue this, and voila!!, you have the ingredients necessary to fulfill our mission.

The mission of the Fort Pierce Jazz & Blues Society is to promote the growth, appreciation and performance of Jazz and Blues ~ two great American Music Art Forms ~ through annual scholarship awards, educational workshops, clinics and master classes, weekly jazz jams, tri-annual Waterside Blues Festivals, Mardi Gras and Jazz Week celebrations and community outreach programs.

The Fort Pierce Jazz & Blues Society will forge ahead to accomplish and achieve our many worthwhile goals…expanding educational programs, musical forums, social events, City support and awareness, promoting artistic culture and last but not least, a very BIG warm smile from those who have learned to enjoy our traditional Jazz Jams! Is that all there is? ABSOLUTEY NOT! That’s where everything begins! We shall continue to work diligently to make things entertaining, fun and interesting at all our upcoming and ongoing events.

Sunrise Theatre – Historic Downtown Ft Pierce

Only 3 miles from the Royal Inn Beach Hotel Hutchinson Island, the pristine, beautifully restored, intimate 1,200-seat Sunrise Theatre, located in Historic downtown Fort Pierce, presents national touring Broadway shows, musical and comedy acts, ballet and opera companies with full orchestras, country stars and classic rock icons.

The Sunrise Theatre directly benefits the economy and quality of life in St. Lucie County by attracting visitors from other cities, counties and states. Also located within the theatre complex is the 220-seat Black Box Theatre, a state-of-the-art venue offering a variety of national, regional and local programming.

The Black Box is home to the Ft Pierce Jazz and Blues Society’s Jazz Jams every Tuesday night (Tickets only $5) and the home of “The Comedy Corner” (from the owners of the Improv) bringing top-touring comedians every 2nd & 4th Saturday night of each month (Tickets only $15). The Sunrise Theatre truly is the crowning gem in the cultural crown of the Treasure Coast.

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Sunrise opened its doors on August 1, 1923 as the largest theatre on Florida’s East Coast between Jacksonville and Miami. It quickly became the center of all St. Lucie County’s cultural activities. The theatre closed its doors on September 8, 1983 , due to the decline of the downtown area and a refusal to convert to multi-screen operation. In 1988, Main Street Fort Pierce was established and soon realized the need for the Sunrise Theatre as a center for local, national and international world class performing arts presentations.

Main Street Fort Pierce began an effort to save the historic theatre. In 1997, the Sunrise Theatre was purchased by the St. Lucie Preservation Association, Inc. and today, after reopening on January 6, 2006, the theatre is completely renovated to its original splendor with state-of-the-art sound and lighting systems and is owned and operated by the City of Fort Pierce.
