True to his radio form, humorist celebrity speaker Garrison Keillor shares hilarious anecdotes about growing up in the American Midwest, the people of Lake Wobegon, and “late-life fatherhood.” With a wonderful, dry sense of humor, he
captivates audiences and delivers with class, charisma, and wisdom. The charming, witty, and always-entertaining writer, humorist, and celebrity speaker Garrison Keillor is probably best known for his widely popular radio show A Prairie Home Companion. The show attracts more than two million listeners on more than 450 NPR stations weekly. Keillor is also the host of the daily radio and online program, The Writers Almanac, and a best-selling author of many books, including Lake Wobegon Days; Love Me; and Homegrown Democrat.
Garrison Keillor is also the author of more than a dozen best-selling books, including “Lake Wobegon Days” and “Homegrown Democrat.” For many years, he contributed essays and “Talk of the Town” pieces to The New Yorker, and, more recently, he’s been a widely read essayist for Time and The Atlantic Monthly.
A profile in Time magazine described Keillor as “the funniest American writer still open for business,” and The Washington Post has called him a “storytelling genius.” Keillor was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame in 1994. He was honored with the National Humanities Medal in 1999.
In 2006, Garrison Keillor appeared in the film adaptation of A Prairie Home Companion. The film, directed by Robert Altman and with a cast including Meryl Streep, Lily Tomlin, Kevin Kline, and Garrison Keillor himself, was received with critical acclaim. With continuing interest in his radio work and writings, Keillor remains one of the most popular American storytellers of all time.
